I've got this knocking noise coming from the front portion of my car but can't seem to find the problem. The workshop has checked through the entire suspension components (mountings, lower arm bushes balljoints) as well as the steering components (tie rod ends, tie rod aka steering rod etc) but found no loose components...
I've had the exhaust adjusted already and the engine mounts have been checked...
Going straight over uneven surfaces, the car is fine. But the noise is exceptionally loud if the car goes through the uneven surface during a turn...more so a left turn than a right turn...
btw, the driveshafts are brand new... and the sound is different from that of the driveshaft sound...
the car is steady right through the speed range up to 150+km/h with no visible/feeling of vibrations... although there is a very slight change of direction whenever there is an acceleration (moves to right) or deceleration (moves to left)... in the ZX, this is easily pinpointed as either the lower arm bushes being broken, the tie rod or its ends being loose or the suspension mounting being broken... whereas can't locate a single fault in the AX!!!
Anyone can shed any light on this?
Thanks!
Knocking noise...

vonnig, why don't you check out wie is wie and create a small story about your self, we're starting to get interested!! (at least I am).
also you can use babelfish to translate most of our forum.
and I also think the big nut is loose, since you've checked everything else.
Sure it's not the driveshafts?

eh? what's that? *edited* It's alright, i've found the "wie is wie" thingy already. will fill it in then. Thanks! *end editing*
yeah... i'll try babelfish... just feeling a bit lazy... sorry...
big nut loose? hmmm... haven't had a look at that... will check it...
i'm very very sure it's not the driveshafts as they're less than 3 months old... can't have spoiled so quickly can they? anyway, the sound and vibration is different from that of worn driveshaft bearing... driveshaft sound is "klak, klak, klak"
the length of the sound is dependent on the speed of the car and the level of unevenness... sometimes it's there... sometimes it's not... really odd... sounds like a broken bush kind of thingy... muffled type sound "clob, clob" ... sometimes twice in quick succession...
on smooth surfaces making U-turn right or left, no sounds...
