U9 means injection with an catalisator

In Holland Citroën changed from carburation to injection for the AX in the summer of '89 and U9 was added on the vehicle papers (kentekenbewijs).

The exception are imported AX from Belgium where Citroën changed it years later. I thought '93 but I'm not sure.

the "U9" addition is compulsory when the same model of a car has been sold without a catalyser or with a simple catalysing system ("S6").
