16v approval from Citroen or other ?

Post by JohanAXGTI »

Hello my dutch AX friends !

I'm from Denmark and proud owner of this '95 GTI:

I'm also joined on the axownersclub.com and have asked the same question on their forum.
The problem is that Denmark is a very strict country when it comes to cars and tuning them and I really really want a 16v lump in my beast :)
Here in Denmark I need an approval/certificate from Citroën before I can do my project. Citroën has denied me this approval and now I'm searching for this certifcate other places. So afterwards I can say to Citroën, that other Citroën dealers (or similar places) in other countries have approved this project, and maybe they will approve my project.

Do any of you have such an approval lying around ?? And be willing to scan it onto your pc and send it to me. I would be VERY thankful !!
I've almost given up so this is my last idea sadly.
Not fun to live in this car-hating-country :(

Thanks, Johan, Denmark

I'm working on a 16v conversion, and a few others here too. But without an approval of Citroën. Here in Holland it's allowed if the gain in power is less than 40%.

Nice car BTW, I think a lot of members here would like to see more pics :)

Nice car!

Especially like the rims! 8)

I'm afraid that you won't find a Citroën approval anywhere.
At least I've never heard of such.

But on AXOC you can find plenty of info of other, less conspicuous ways of enginetuning.
I don't know how far you're allowed to go in Denmark, as it comes to enginetuning. But a lot can be done without any of it showing on the outside.

did you asked Citroën Contact the coupled organisation for Citroens each Country.

I know a Citroën dealer that made this conversation but in Holland we don't need suchs papers

Maybe there is a possibility to export the car then get a single vehicle aproval in another country and then import it back to Denmark. But that would cost you a fortune i reckon
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the f#ck alone.

That's the way to go for locost cars.

Get your approval in England, and after that import the car to your country.

But I'm not sure wether will work in this case. After all, the AX already has approval. And you don't need a single vehicle approval in England after you install a 16v engine.

Then again, it might be worth investigating.

Ok thanks guys, I will continue my search of possibilities.
I know I can get a lot of horsepower with 8v, but a 16v in an AX just sounds s? amazing hehe, especially since I would own the only one in Denmark.
The rules in Denmark are VERY strict. You must not tune at all on your original engine, but you can put a new engine in. This engine must not have no more than 20% more hp than the original engine. if it does have more, you need to pay a lot of money to the tax authorities AND have a approval from the manufacturer.

I have thought about another way to do it:

Put in the 16v engine from saxo vts/106 gti, then erase the engine code and paint the engine. Then taking the valve cover from the 110bhp 16v from Xsara VTR/ 206 S16 and put that on. (The 110bhp version is legal since it do not exceed 20% of the original) Then you really have to know your TU engines to see that it isn't the 110bhp version :P
But of course the intake is different on those two.
But I think that's the way to do it and pass MOT.

I'm already a paid member of AXOC, but that doesn't help me right now.

You can use the 110 hp version of te 206 and convert this engine to a 125 hp version. Than you have the right engine-code with another managment. That's something they don't look at.... I guess...
